RWA Milestones
RWA has been in existence for over 30 years. It was founded to support the independent Lagerhaus cooperatives in Austria by acting as a wholesaler and service provider in the procurement of agricultural supplies and products, as well as in the marketing of agricultural produce.
Today, RWA has expanded its role beyond wholesale and services. It is also a producer of seeds and animal feed and operates more than 40 subsidiaries and holdings in Austria and eight Central and Eastern European countries.

Founding of RWA
Merger of the cooperative commodity associations of Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Styria and ÖRWZ (Österreichische Raiffeisen Warenzentrale)

From 1999 until 2024, RWA formed a strategic alliance with the German BayWa AG, integrating into an internationally operating trade and service group.

Lagerhaus
RWA connects the Austrian Lagerhaus cooperatives – on a voluntary basis – into a strong network. It provides the cooperatives with a comprehensive range of services in the areas of agriculture, technology, building materials, home & garden, energy and shared services. The core focus of RWA’s activities is on the member cooperatives in Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Styria, and Burgenland.

Raiffeisen & RWA
RWA is a key pillar of the Austrian Raiffeisen commodity organisation. It was initially founded as a cooperative in 1993, taking over the responsibilities of its predecessor organisations at the regional and national levels. In 1998, all business activities were transferred to the newly established RWA Raiffeisen Ware Austria AG.
