The seed process at a glance
At more than 27 production sites of RWA and the Austrian Lagerhaus cooperatives, we produce the annual local demand for seeds. In addition, we operate seed production facilities in several Central and Southeastern European countries for the respective local markets. In total, 100,000 tonnes of seed are produced each year.
The focus is on cereals (wheat, rye, barley), corn, and oil and protein crops (soybeans, rapeseed, peas and fava beans). However, niche and specialty crops such as oil pumpkins, fava beans and peas also play a significant role.
Our tasks include selecting suitable seed varieties, propagating them, implementing quality management measures and ensuring national and international distribution. Seed certification is carried out in our company-owned seed laboratories.
Another core task is comprehensive seed logistics, ensuring smooth delivery from the producer to the field.
Through our subsidiary BSV Saaten, we serve the seed market in southern Germany.
